Process for continuously preparing alkylene glycol diethers

The invention provides a process for preparing alkylene glycol diethers of the formula (I) by reacting compounds of the formula (II) in which R¹ is hydrogen or C₁- to C₃-alkyl, R² is hydrogen, CH₃ or CH₂CH₃, and n is from 1 to 4, in the liquid phase in the presence of catalysts at temperatures between 170 and 300° C., and continuously distilling off the compounds of the formula (I).
