PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion apparatus having stable output power of wavelength converted light even when the wavelength of the outputted wavelength converted light approaches the wavelength of excited light and input signal light or even when input signal light is intermittently inputted. SOLUTION: The wavelength conversion apparatus (100) having a signal light input terminal (102), one or a plurality of excitation light sources (104), an optical multiplexing part (106) multiplexing exited light outputted from the excitation light source and signal light and an optical nonlinear element (108) in which output light of the optical multiplexing part is inputted and which has a secondary nonlinear susceptibility is provided with an optical branch part (110) branching sum frequency light of the excited light and the signal light or secondary harmonic light of the excited light of light outputted from the optical nonlinear element (the sum frequency light or the secondary harmonic light is referred to as branched light after this), a light receiving part (112) monitoring power of the branched light and a control circuit (114) controlling at least one of the wavelength of the excited light and the temperature of the optical nonlinear element so that the power of the branched light is made to be the maximum based on a monitoring result in the light receiving part.
