PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron which prevents a set temperature from being changed by carelessly touching a thermostat tab. SOLUTION: The iron has a base 2 having an evaporation chamber (not illustrated) heated by a heater (not illustrated) and to evaporate water, a tank 3 to store water to be supplied to the evaporation chamber and a handle 5 arranged above the base 2 and having a grip portion 6, a temperature control means 7 to adjust the temperature of the base 2 by controlling the passage of electricity to the heater, a rotary thermostat tab 8 to set the temperature of the base 2 and a steam button 10 to control the flow of water to the evaporation chamber from the tank 3. The thermostat tab 8 is provided in the inclined portion 5a formed in the form of hanging low ahead of the handle 5 and a steam button 10 is provided on the front side to make the upper end of the steam button 10 higher than the upper end of the grip portion 6 and the upper end of the thermostat tab 8. Since the hand grasping the grip portion 6 does not easily touch the thermostat tab 8 in operating the steam button 10, the thermostat tab 8 is not carelessly rotated and the iron is easy to use.
