Desalination process for seawater by electrochemical, active carbon, ultra-violet and reverse osmosis sequence

In a seawater desalination process the incoming water is passed first through an electrochemical reactor, following which the dissolved and residual substances are absorbed and oxidised by active carbon filtration. The water then passes through an ultraviolet light reactor which breaks down oxidised and organic impurities, and destroys pyrogenic germs, followed by reverse osmosis filtration. The resulting pure water is then combined with a quantity of saline water to bring conductivity to less than 200 Siemens/cm-1>, and to set the ratio between single- and double-valency ions (Na and K to Ca; and Mg) in the range 5:1 to 1:2).
