Said method comprises the steps of: detecting (200) a blocking artifact on the basis of a comparison of adjacent chrominance data values belonging to two adjacent data blocks; and filtering (300) luminance data values belonging to said adjacent data blocks if a blocking artifact has been detected.</p>
