PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas spring operating device in a chair for which an operative member of a gas spring and an operation lever are made connectable with a short guide tube and a wire without greatly bending them in a manner to be smoothly operable. SOLUTION: One end of the guide tube 40 is made to face a direction which is different from the moving direction of the operative member 38, and convenient for the connection of the other end of guide tube 40 and the operation lever, and is fixed to a head cover 36 which is the gas spring operation section. Also, a guide section 42b having an arcuate guiding surface 42c which freely slidably guides the wire 41 extended from the one end of the guide tube 40 the operative member 38 in a manner to make the wire 41 warp in the moving direction of the operative member 38 is provided on the head cover 36.
