PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio output device which is so configured that an output audio signal having the most suitable output voltage level resulting from the most suitable gain control can be generated for each of audio output connection terminals corresponding to a plurality of outputs by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The audio output device includes; a connection detection part for detecting whether or not an apparatus is connected to each of a plurality audio output connection terminals to which audio signals can be outputted; a gain setting part for not only determining one or more audio output connection terminals to which output audio signals should be outputted, in accordance with a connection detection result of the connection detection part but also setting a value of gain according with a volume adjustment value by referring to a gain setting table for the most suitable gain control of audio signals to be outputted to the audio output connection terminals; a digital volume controller for using the set value of gain to adjust a volume of digital audio signal data; a D/A converter for D/A-converting the digital audio signal data to an analog audio signal; and an output part for subjecting the analog audio signal to prescribed conversion and outputting a conversion result to one or more audio output connection terminals determined in accordance with the connection detection result.
