PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing mechanism with a damper used for a Western-style toilet or a piano in which the rotation damper can be easily controlled and assembled. SOLUTION: Adjacent to two hinge portions 22, 24 on the side of a body member 18, corresponding hinge portions 26, 28 on the side of an opening/closing member 20 are arranged on the same side, respectively. Between the hinge portions 22, 26 and between the hinge portions 24, 28 facing each other, the rotation damper 30 is arranged which has directivity. A mounting portion 30e on one side of the rotation damper 30 is joined to a mounting portion 22a provided on the hinge portion 22 of the body member 18, while the mounting portion 30c on the other side is joined to mounting portions 26a, 28a provided on the hinge portions 26, 28 on the side of the opening/closing member 20. Thus, the opening/closing member 20 is rockingly borne on the body member 18 with the rotation damper 30 as a rotational center. When the opening/closing member 20 rocks around the rotation damper 30, the braking force of the rotation damper 30 is applied to this rocking motion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
