PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting off device for cutting off the upper end part of a tree, made to have a small size and light weight for easy transporting in hillsides by having a simple structure and compact mechanism, also improved with its working property and decreasing risks for a worker by performing cutting works done conventionally on the tree, from ground. SOLUTION: This cutting off device is provided by installing a mechanism for circulating a band saw 7 on the outer circumference of a U-shaped machine frame 2 and rotating the saw teeth part 7a exposed at a U-shaped opened up part on a circular fulcrum, on a lifting up and down device 40, a mechanism for inducing a standing tree to the recessed part of the machine frame and also a nipping device in the lower direction of the cutting off device, and using an attachable and detachable battery as a driving source for becoming a simple mechanism so as to be able to make the device have the small size and light weight.
