<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and method capable of informing a user of an insufficient quantity of toner, thereby preventing toner from being used up before the user detects it, and capable of preventing superfluous printing, thereby using toner effectively. <P>SOLUTION: A quantity of remaining toner is recognized by a remaining toner quantity recognizing section 30. A quantity of toner consumed for each of a plurality of sets of prints is calculated by a toner consumption calculating section 20. Based on the quantity of toner consumed for each set, calculated by the toner consumption calculating section 20, and the quantity of remaining toner, recognized by the remaining toner quantity recognizing section 30, a printing determination section 40 determines whether or not the quantity of remaining toner is sufficient to print all the sets of prints. When the printing determination section 40 determines that the quantity of remaining toner is not sufficient to print all the sets of prints, the number of sets of prints allowable with the quantity of remaining toner is calculated by a printable-set calculating section 50 and the number is displayed on a display operation part 60 in order to inform a user of it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
