摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce image blurring due to movements often occurs when displaying moving images on a holding type image display device while suppressing the drop of the maximum brightness and contrast. SOLUTION: In an image display device composing one frame image display period over a plurality of sub-frame periods, the gradation levels of the image signals are set in each sub-frame so that the relations of the inputted image signals and the display brightness show the appropriateγbrightness property, while preventing the temporal move of center position of the display brightness following the gradation levels of the inputted image signals. For example, the maximum gradation levels are given within a range not exceeding the target brightness levels to the sub-frame periods approaching to the front or rear from the sub-frame period at the temporal center or closest to the center of the n (n is an integer two or larger) sub-frames, and the minimum gradation level is given to the remaining sub-frame periods when reaching the target brightness level.
