PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the distance to the preceding vehicle and stop without releasing a follow-up control. SOLUTION: This traveling controller for the follow-up travel to the preceding vehicle so as to make the vehicle distance to the preceding vehicle to be a target vehicle distance comprises a first follow-up control mode for the follow-up travel to the preceding vehicle until stopping and a second follow-up control mode for the follow-up travel to the preceding vehicle until the own vehicle speed reduces to a predetermined vehicle speed being larger than 0.
