The method involves pumping biomass in an underground cavity (2), and fermenting the biomass, where size of the cavity is decreased due the fermentation of the biomass. The biomass is prepared before pumping the biomass from the underground cavity. PH regulating substances such as lime, is added in the underground cavity during acidification processes. Hydrolyseren of the biomass is done before pumping the biomass from the underground cavity, where the underground cavity is formed by a porous rock layer. Independent claims are also include for the following: (1) a device for producing and storing biogas (2) an apparatus with the underground cavity formed by a porous rock layer.
