A gear backlash preventing apparatus, a power transmitting device for an image forming apparatus employing the same, and an image forming apparatus are provided to rotate a rotation driving unit at a regular speed stably without being affected by a backlash of a gear, and restrain degradation of a function in spite of a long time use. A weight rotational body(21) has a weight heavier than that of a photosensitive drum(10) and connected to be rotated together according to a rotation of the photosensitive drum. A viscous unit attenuates a rotational force of the weight rotational body with viscosity of a fluid. The weight rotational body is made of a metal material. The viscous unit includes a coupling protrusion formed at the weight rotational body, fixed members(22) having a lace to which the coupling protrusion is rotatably combined, and a viscous fluid filled in the lace. The viscous fluid is a damping grease. An interval of 0.05 to 0.10mm is secured between an inner wall of the lace and the coupling protrusion.
