METHOD FOR PREPARING CERIUM CARBONATE POWDER USING UREA

A method for preparing a cerium carbonate powder is provided to improve uniformity of the reaction by using urea as a precipitant, and to reduce the risks of high temperature and high pressure for hydrothermal synthesis and the burden of expensive equipment. A method for preparing a cerium carbonate powder includes a step of mixing a cerium precursor solution with a urea solution, and causing a precipitation reaction. At least one organic solvent of solvents used in the cerium precursor solution and urea solution is an organic solvent. The temperature of the precipitation reaction is adjusted to 120-300 °C to produce the cerium carbonate powder having a hexagonal crystal structure. The temperature of the precipitation reaction is lower than the boiling point of the organic solvent.
