1,141,116. Mounting electric heating resistances. KABEL-UND METALLWERKE NEUMEYER G.m.b.H. 4 May, 1967 [26 May, 1966], No. 20821/67. Heading H5H. A continuously-manufacturable flexible heating mat element for floors or walls comprises an insulated heating conductor 5 secured to a sheet 1 of material having good thermal conductivity either in a corrugation 12, closed sufficiently to prevent the heating conductor 5 from falling out of the corrugation, or between tags 4 stamped out of the sheet 1 and rolled round the conductor 5 or laid around it (see also Figs. 3a, 3b, 3c, not shown). Sheets 1 are riveted or welded together at 6 by projections 3 thereon to form a heating mat of the required size. Alternatively the sheets 1 are clipped together by connectors 15 by means of tags 15<SP>1</SP> through slots in the sheets. The tags 4 cover the conductor 5 completely and extend as projections 8 beyond the sheet 1 to guide the free cable, or the tags (9), (10), (11), cover part only of conductor 5 (Figs. 3a, 3b, 3c, not shown). The corrugation 12 has cross-slits 13 or parallel undulations 14 to increase its flexibility. Protective plastics coatings are applied to protect the elements from corrosion. |
