The gun, in which a projectile (30) can be inserted, has a mechanism (2) to fire shots and a mechanism (3) to transmit an impulse to the bullet on operating the firing mechanism. It has a pressure gas source (10) and mechanism (9) to release the gas to propel the projectile. The gun has a pressure regulation loop (11,13,14,16), operating under electronic control, e.g. by a micro-controller. It measures at least one characteristic variable of the target, such as its distance as determined by a laser sensor and from it can determine a control variable, e.g. the required gas pressure to use in discharging a shot. An independent claim is included for a method for firing a shot from a weapon. |
