The invention is directed to low calorie sweetener compositions. In some embodiments, the sweetener compositions comprise: (a) about 5 wt.% to about 40 wt.% erythritol; (b) about 0 wt.% to about 30 wt.% sorbitol; (c) about 0 wt.% to about 50 wt.% of an ingredient selected from the group consisting of isomalt, maltitol, or a mixture thereof; (d) about 5 wt.% to about 40 wt.% polydextrose; and (e) about 5 wt.% to about 40 wt.% resistant starch. In oth er embodiments, the sweetener compositions comprise: (a) about 5 wt.% to abo ut 40 wt.% erythritol; (b) up to about 68 wt.% of an ingredient selected fro m isomalt, maltitol, sorbitol, or a mixture thereof; (c) about 5 wt.% to abo ut 40 wt.% of an ingredient selected from polydextrose, resistant maltodextr in, or a mixture thereof. Embodiments of the low calorie sweetener compositi ons display improved gastrointestinal tolerance when consumed by humans.</SD OAB> |
