PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rubber composition, capable of reducing rolling resistance and improving all of processability, abrasion resistance, grip performance and persistency and capable of improving grip performance, especially in wide temperature conditions. SOLUTION: The method for producing the rubber composition comprises (A) a step of preparing a polystyrene by coagulating a latex of a polystyrene having 90-150°C glass transition temperature with an acid and drying the coagulated latex and (B) a step of mixing 100 pts.wt. rubber component containing≥20 wt.% styrene butadiene rubber obtained by a solution polymerization and/or an emulsion polymerization method with 5-100 pts.wt. polystyrene prepared in the step (A) in a closed mixer. The polystyrene latex may be mixed with at least one kind of material selected from the group consisting of water glass, a cationizing agent and a surfactant before coagulating the polystyrene latex with the acid.
