PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the soil collapse of seedling root pot by movement of seedling taking out claw, and to pluck roots after intrusion of a seedling taking out apparatus, close to the interior of the pot part of a seedling tray. SOLUTION: The seedling taking out apparatus of a transplanter has a pair of right and left seedling taking out claws 32 that are pivoted on a seedling claw bed 33 and an extendible tip interval L; a means for moving the seedling claw bed 33 in the direction of seedling sticking; a seedling taking out auxiliary tool 34, having a tip fitted to the right and left seedling taking out claws 32 and an auxiliary tool operation means 39, that moves the seedling taking out auxiliary tool 34 from the tip side to the base part side of the seedling taking out claw 32 in entering the pot part P and moves the seedling taking out auxiliary tool 34, from the base part side to the tip side of the seedling taking out claw 32 so as to push out seedlings N from the seedling taking out claw 32 outside the pot part P. The right and left seedling taking out claws 32 have a tip part 32AS, that is substantially in parallel with a right and left center line H of a claw from a tip 32a in the length direction to a middle part 32b, and a contraction part 32AK that widens, from the middle part 32b to the base part.
