PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content playback system capable of easily changing over a slave terminal and a master terminal in accordance with an input operation regarding a playback control. SOLUTION: When a first player 30A receives a playback control instruction of the content at the time of being set to a slave mode, the playback control corresponding to the playback control instruction is carried out and also the slave mode is released, and when an instruction to set the first player 30A to a master mode is received after the slave mode is released, the playback control mode is set to the master mode, and also information to express that the first player 30A is set to the master mode, is transmitted to a second player 30B. When a second player 30B receives information to express that the first player 30A is set to the master mode, from the first player 30A at the time of being set to the master mode, the mode is changed over to the slave mode from the master mode.
