PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building with an elevator allowing a passenger to get in an elevator car from a safer place in the building when a fire starts in it. SOLUTION: Two usual landing place doorways 20 corresponding to a first car doorway 5a are provided in an elevator landing place 8. A supplementary room landing place doorway 22 corresponding to a second car doorway 5b of the elevator car 5 of an A machine is provided in a supplementary room 11. A stair room landing place doorway 24 corresponding to the second car doorway 5b of the elevator car 5 of a B machine is provided in a special evacuation stair room 12. The usual landing place doorways 20, the supplementary room landing place doorway 22, and the stair room landing place doorway 24 are provided in fireproof divisions being different from each other.
