PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum hot press and its control method which can operate efficiently a vacuum pump and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: The vacuum hot press 1 for forming a laminated article by heat/press tightening a plurality of molding materials in a chamber 2 depressurized by the vacuum pump 3 is equipped with a water-oil separator 4 for separating moisture from the lubricating oil of the vacuum pump 3, and circulates the lubricating oil to the oil-water separator 4 upon driving of the vacuum pump 3. The drive of the vacuum pump 3 is selected selectively to the case of depressurizing in the chamber 2 by connecting the vacuum pump 3 with the chamber 2 and to the case of depressurizing only in the pipeline connected directly to the vacuum pump 3 by communicating with not chamber 2 by the vacuum pump 3.
