PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element material and a light-emitting element using this, which enables the light-emitting element highly efficient and excellent in durability. SOLUTION: The light-emitting element contains pyrene compound of the general equation (1). In the equation, R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>17</SP>are hydrogen, alkyl group, cyclo alkyl group, and heterocyclic group etc, Ar is allylene group, or hetero allylene group. Among R<SP>10</SP>-R<SP>17</SP>, at least one is alkyl group, among R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, at least one is allylene group, or hetero allylene group, or R<SP>4</SP>shows allylene group or cyclo alkyl group.
