PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile station and a communication method for shortening a cell re-selection cycle when the mobile station is shifted from an intermittent receiving state to a continuous receiving state. SOLUTION: A mobile station 30 judges whether to perform cell re-selection processing according to the intermittent reception result of a control signal, and judges whether to perform cell re-selection processing according to the continuous reception result of the control signal. A cell evaluation part 35A judges whether or not the reception quality of a control signal received from an in-zone cell exceeds a prescribed value before the lapse of a cell evaluation period since the start of communication is detected. When it is judged that the reception quality of the control signal is less than a prescribed threshold, a cell evaluation part 35A performs cell re-selection processing before the lapse of the cell evaluation period.
