A kit for diagnosing liver cancer using expression of an RERG(Ras-related, estrogen-regulated and growth-inhibitory) gene is provided to be highly expressed in male suffering from liver cancer and be lowly expressed in female suffering from liver cancer, thereby diagnosing the liver cancer accurately and conveniently in accordance with sex. A kit for diagnosing liver cancer of human comprises: (a) a primer or a probe specifically coupled to an RERG DNA sequence; or (b) an antibody specifically coupled to an RERG protein, wherein the primer or the probe includes a nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 2 or 3. Further, the kit for diagnosing liver cancer of human performs an RT-PCR(reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) of mRNA of the RERG gene.
