PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white organic EL device having high luminance, a long service life and excelling in reliability. SOLUTION: This organic EL device is provided with: a functional layer 17 comprising two or more layers including a first luminescent layer 17C (yellow to red polymer luminescent layer) and a second luminescent layer 17D (blue low-molecular-weight luminescent layer), wherein the first luminescent layer 17C is formed by a wet film formation method, and the second luminescent layer 17D is formed by a dry film formation method; and a pair of electrodes 14 and 18 sandwiching the functional layer 17.
