Bags, produced in the bag making machine of Specification 1,120,471, are formed into bundles and stacked on a pallet 45<SP>1</SP> carried on a trolley 41, a fixed angle template 41<SP>1</SP> assisting in the arrangement of four bundles in each layer. By means of a jack 42 the operator gradually lowers the pallet to maintain a convenient stacking height. When the pallet is full, the trolley is raised to its full height and moved laterally until the pallet is above a roller conveyer 43, tines on the trolley, upon which the pallet rests, entering between the rollers of the conveyer 43. The pallet is then deposited on the conveyer as the trolley is lowered. During the return of the trolley to its original position a new pallet, previously placed on the left hand side of the trolley, is moved towards the right, by a stop. 47 on the bottom of the template 41<SP>1</SP>, to position 451. Another new pallet is then picked up by the trolley as it rises to the loading position.
