PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for data migration minimizing the use of a system resource. SOLUTION: A processor operates in a local domain. An RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disk) controller divides the capacity of a source device into a plurality of sub regions, locks the sub regions from storage activity, establishes mirroring relation for updating write data, and assigns the processor in order to copy data. The method for data migration includes: dividing the capacity of a source device into the plurality of sub regions; locking the sub regions from the storage activity; establishing the mirroring relation for updating write data between the source device and a target device; and assigning the local processor in order to copy data from the source device to the target device.
