PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gray level correction device capable of properly performing correction without increasing circuit scale even when luminance is uneven and a video display device having the same. SOLUTION: A desired threshold THlim is set to the number of pixels Ynum, and Ymin, Y max are calculated from an intersection with histogram. In addition, a desired threshold TH larger than the threshold THlim is further set to the number of pixels Ynum and a position (correction curve starting position) ST and a position (correction curve ending position) EN are calculated from the intersection with the histogram.
