An apparatus and a method for displaying key information are provided to allow a user to easily check current selected key information by displaying a message having key information corresponding to a remote controller signal on one region of a screen. An apparatus for displaying key information includes a tuner(110), a receiver(120), a controller(130), and a display unit(140). The tuner selects a channel to receive a broadcasting signal. The receiver receives a remote controller signal. The display unit displays the broadcasting signal and displays a message on one region of a screen. The controller receives the remote controller signal and controls a corresponding operation. When the controller receives a first remote controller signal for setting a key information display function through the receiver, it activates a key information display function.
