An apparatus and a method for changing IP in a communication system are provided to perform communication to external networks by changing IP subnet for internal communication even though the IP subnet for internal communication is collided with the IP subnet for external communication. A communication system for creating an IP(Information Provider) for internal communication comprises a storage unit(130) for storing network identifications by a communication system operator, a master unit(100) and slave units(110,120). The master unit checks up the network ID from the storage unit to create and change the IP, and transmits the network ID to the slave units. The slave units create or change the IP by using the network ID provided from the master unit.
