<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect inconsistency between a place of origin shown on a commodity and the actual place of origin, before a commodity label is issued and attached, thereby preventing improper indication. <P>SOLUTION: In this code management system, a weighing apparatus connected to a commodity master server via a communication network reads a case code attached to a case that contains an article serving as a commodity; based on a commodity label attached to the case, the name of the commodity inputted is accepted. Commodity information is obtained from the commodity master server 10 and the name of the commodity accepted and inputted is compared with the name of the commodity included in the commodity information obtained from the commodity master server 10, to determine whether or not they match.
