<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of multi-phase rotary electric machine that can suitably suppress torque variations associated with switching from rectangular wave control to voltage control when performing voltage control to control a voltage applied to each phase of a multi-phase rotary electric machine to its command value, and a rectangular wave control. <P>SOLUTION: In a control device of multi-phase rotary electric machine as shown in Fig. 9 (d) when performing rectangular wave control, actual voltage vector Vr usually differs from a voltage vector Ve for generating a currently generated output torque by PWM control. During rectangular wave control, the voltage vector Ve is calculated one after another, and when this is equal to or less than a limit voltage VL, a control mode switches from rectangular wave control to PWM control.
