<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying the surface of a metal, which activates the surface of a metal represented by aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy and the like, and thereby forms a modified layer superior in adhesiveness and coatability, and to provide a surface-modified member which has the surface modified by the above method and is superior in adhesiveness and coatability. <P>SOLUTION: A surface modified layer containing a metal hydroxide on the metal surface is formed by applying energy onto the surface of the metal. A surface-modified member having a surface-modified layer thereon which contains a metal hydroxide and has a thickness of 5μm or less is formed by applying the method onto a metal member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
