PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing type steering column device for a vehicle capable of increasing collapsing quantity of a steering column. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing type steering column device for the vehicle is constituted to collapse the steering column supported on a vehicle body through a bracket in secondary collision and to absorb collision energy while moving the vehicle forward by having a bulged part bulged and formed from the cylindrical steering column supporting the steering shaft free to rotate inside and held by a bracket fixed on the vehicle body and being furnished with a bolt to fix the bulged part through the bracket by inserting the bracket and the bulged part. Additionally, a shock absorbing device to absorb the collision energy in the secondary collision is integrally formed on the steering column at least one of between an upper end of the steering column and the bulged part and between a lower end of the steering column and the bulged part.
