PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ballpoint pen which excels in a feel of writing and also in the stability with time which is attained by suppression of a metal salt or the like in a ballpoint pen tip. SOLUTION: The material of the main body of the tip is stainless steel, and an ink composition for the water-based ballpoint pen containing at least water, a colorant, a phosphate ester surfactant, amino carboxylic acid having a cyclohexane skeleton and/or a phenyl skeleton, and/or at least one or more kinds of an alkali metal salt, an ammonium salt and an amine salt thereof, is filled directly in an ink holding tube.
