<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device for displaying an input character on a display means, and to provide a computer program for attaining the character input device by a computer. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 10 generates, upon input of a reference character, a similar character list, by reading similar characters registered in a similar character structure correspondence dictionary DB 13b in association with the reference character and makes a display part 15 display the list. The control part 10 generates a corresponding part list, by reading character components of the similar characters corresponding to the character components of the reference character from a character structure dictionary DB 13a and the similar character structure correspondence dictionary DB 13b and makes the display part 15 display the list.
