摘要 The present invention provides an image guided whole body stereotactic needle placement device comprising a circular base plate (1), the semicircular rotating arc (2) secured on arc foot plates (16) on both sides of the semicircular rotating arc (2), the said foot plates (16) capable of sliding on a ridge (7) on the upper surface of the said base plate (1), a needle guide cover (4) for holding the needle guide (3), the needle sizing tube (6) adaptably holding the needle; a locking pin (5) to securely fix the needle sizing tube (6) into the needle guide cover (4) and a needle adaptably held in the needle seizing tube (6). More particularly it relates to a Computerized Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) compatible image guided stereotactic device useful for inserting needles or any such apparatus/medical devices through the said needle at a desired precise point in the body. This device can be used in patients of all ages including infants and can be used for whole body including brain and also parts of the body that move with respiration. The needle can be placed percutaneously or per-operatively under image guidance obtained from cross sectional imaging devices such as CT scan/MRI scan etc. Image guidance is required to select least harmful path for the needle, so as to avoid vital organs and structures such as blood vessels, bowel etc. The needle can be placed for obtaining tissue samples for the purpose of diagnosis or for delivering drugs/energy or for therapeutic/palliative aspiration of fluid collections or any such procedure.
