<p>The invention relates to a method and an ultrasound probe for imaging a volume by at least receiving ultrasound signals from the volume. Generally, the point spread function is anisotropic, leading to a scan being made with an anisotropic spatial resolution pattern (point spread function with specific spatial orientation depending on the orientation of the ultrasound probe), which in turn results in the spatial resolution of an image obtained through use of the ultrasound probe to be anisotropic as well. According to the invention, the isotropy of the spatial resolution of an image is improved by making a plurality of scans of a single volume, with different scans being made with different spatial resolution patterns and with data obtained in the different scans being 3-D spatially compounded.</p> |
