PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc oxide nanoparticles for a UV light emitting body, which are applicable to a UV light source or a UV light laser without emitting green light; to provide a solution in which the nanoparticles are dispersed; and to provide a method of producing the zinc oxide nanoparticles for a UV light emitting body. SOLUTION: The zinc oxide nanoparticles for a UV light emitting body, having a mean particle diameter of 2 nm to 100 nm, and the solution, in which the nanoparticles are dispersed, are provided. The method of producing the zinc oxide nanoparticles for a UV light emitting body includes producing the zinc oxide nanoparticles having a mean particle diameter of 2 nm to 100 nm by laser ablation of a zinc metal in an aqueous surfactant solution.
