PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine in which cloth can be placed flat on a cloth table and which can prevent the deterioration of sewing quality. SOLUTION: The sewing machine includes: the cloth table 2 on which the cloth to be sewn is mounted; an attaching base 4 attached to the cloth table, at a position where the upper end is lower than the upper surface of the cloth table; a presser arm 5 to be freely rotatably coupled to the attaching base; a cloth presser 6 attached to the tip portion of the presser arm to press the cloth mounted on the cloth table from above; a power transmission member 7 arranged under the cloth table so as to transmit power for rotating the presser arm; and a coupling member 8 which is engaged with the power transmission member, fixed to the presser arm, and freely rotatably arranged in the attaching base.
