PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a record reader with high user-friendliness for automatically changing a format of an optical disk with a simple operation. SOLUTION: When a DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) 100 of a DVD-Video format is set and a format change key is depressed, a control part 2 controls both drives to perform following processings. At first, content data is copied to an HD (Hard Disk) 30A from the DVD 100. Then the DVD 100 is initialized in a VR format. The content data is finally copied to the DVD 100 from the HD 30A. Thereby, change of the format of the DVD 100 is completed. Therefore when a user changes the format of the DVD 100, the user is only required to depress the format change key.
