PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a two-dimensional form by a contrast between illuminating light rays. SOLUTION: The display apparatus 10 includes: a light shielding plate in which a plurality of apertures are formed; and opening/closing members 30b for opening/closing the apertures. In this display apparatus, movable pins 30 corresponding to a two-dimensional form including a letter, a picture, and so on are moved upward, thereby illuminating areas surrounding the pins 30 moved upward. This makes it possible to display a desired letter, picture, and so on by a contrast between the upper face of the illuminated light shield plate 16 and the upper faces of the opening/closing members 30 provided for the movable pins 30 and the upper faces of the opening/closing members 30b provided for the movable pins 30 that are not illuminated.
