PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake muffler capable of obtaining an effect equivalent to multiple resonators by a simple structure. SOLUTION: This device is provided with right and left symmetrical external air introduction ducts (11) dividing external air introduced from an external air introduction opening end 16 into two at a flow dividing part (12a). The device has a predetermined space (19) at which composite sounds of predetermined orders of all cylinders of one bank and composite sounds of the same predetermined orders of all cylinders of the other bank at a section from the external air introduction opening end (16) of the external air introduction duct up to the flow dividing part 12a are mixed. Acoustic phases of the predetermined order components of the composite sounds of all the cylinders of one bank and acoustic phases of the predetermined order components of the composite sounds of all the cylinders of the other bank have a reversed phase relation. Straightening vanes (25, 26) dividing communication sections (21, 22) included in the external air introduction duct (11) into passages (21b, 22b) at a near side from the external air introduction open end (16) and passages (21a, 22a) at a far side from the external air introduction open end (16) are provided in the communication section (21, 22).
