A safety controller (1) for safely controlling operation of an external machine includes: input circuits (51, 52) to which a safety input is inputted; output circuits (53, 54) which output a safety control signal to an external machine; a logic pattern setting switch (4) which selects a logic pattern desired by a user from a plurality of logic patterns stored in an operation processing circuit (50) and sets the selected pattern; the operation processing circuit (50) which controls output circuits (53, 54) according to the logic pattern set by the logic pattern setting switch (4) in accordance with the safety input inputted to the input circuit (51); and an approval switch (6) which validates the set information which has been set by the user via the logic pattern setting switch (4), as confirmed information. In this case, it is possible to easily set the safety controller and reduce the load on the user.
