PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system, imaging device and camera, having extremely reduced thickness in storage, having a wide angle of view at a wide angle end, and having a zoom ratio of about three times. SOLUTION: The zoom lens system, imaging device and camera respectively include a first lens group of negative power, a second lens group of positive power and a third lens group of positive power, wherein the first lens group includes a first lens element, which has a concave surface on the image side and negative power, and a second lens element, which has a convex surface on the object side and positive power; the second lens group includes a third single lens element, a cemented lens of fourth and fifth lens elements different in sign, and a sixth lens element. In zooming, the first to third lens groups are moved along the optical axis to satisfy the conditions:5.0<αi<SB>W</SB><20.0 and n<SB>12</SB>≥2.1(3.2<f<SB>T</SB>/f<SB>W</SB>, andω<SB>W</SB>>35, whereinαi<SB>W</SB>is an incident angle of an imaging element of the principal ray at the maximum image height at a wide angle end; n<SB>12</SB>is a refractive index to d line of the second lens element;ω<SB>W</SB>is a half angle at a wide angle end, f<SB>T</SB>is a focal length of total system at telephoto end; and f<SB>W</SB>is a focal length of total system at a wide angle end).
