PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the performance of a turbofan gas turbine engine under various flight conditions by including a nacelle for reducing thickness, lightening weight and reducing drag. SOLUTION: A gas turbine engine 10 is equipped with a nacelle 100 having a hollow inner space. The hollow inner space is utilized as a plenum 120 for guiding air from an air inlet 116 of the nacelle 100 to an air outlet 104 situated at the upstream end 99 of the nacelle 100 so that an effective lip width of the nacelle 100 under specific flight conditions can be controlled by air flow flowing out of the outlet 104.
