A mechanical sealing device comprises a stationary slide ring 10, a rotary slide ring 20 which rotary slides and closely contacts with said stationary slide ring 10, an O-ring equipped between a inner bore of said rotary slide ring 20 and said rotary shaft 200. A mechanical sealing device further comprises an annular ring member 60a having relatively lower gas permeability in response to that of said O-ring 30; said ring member 60a is provided in said inner bore of the rotary slide ring 20 so as to adjoin said O-ring 30 at atmosphere side; and satisfies a following conditional expression (1).
