PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage on a disk by preventing the collision of an objective lens with a rotating optical disk surface due to vibration or collision while suspending focus control of an optical disk apparatus such as a video camera. SOLUTION: The disk apparatus is driven intermittently and movement of the objective lens in a focusing direction is suppressed, namely, focus lens damping is performed. This prevents the objective lens from colliding with the rotating optical disk surface, thereby preventing the disk from being damaged. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
